Day 12: Protection

We don’t rely on carnal weapons, we don’t rely on carnal buildings, houses, fortresses, but on God, the Creator of the universe.

1) He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2) I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.

Psalm 91:1-2 KJV

As we grow closer to the Lord during this time of fasting and prayer, you can begin to feel His hand of protection covering you. Knowing that He is providing protection from the enemy gives us a sense of a peace and safety–it provides a place that we can rest. When we face something we don’t believe we can handle, when we come up against a situation that threatens us spiritually, we can run into God’s shadow, into His arms, and He will be our refuge. He’s the safe place that we need. Depression and anxiety can ruin your life, in God’s shadow you can find joy and peace; God has the power to wipe away the tears and cure the anxiety. You have nothing to fear when you take refuge in His shadow.

In these tumultuous times of political and civil upheaval, it’s important to remember where our help comes from and where we find our place of rest. We don’t rely on carnal weapons, we don’t rely on carnal buildings, houses, fortresses, but on God, the Creator of the universe. The world around us can fall into disarray and chaos, but we are still protected by the mighty hand of God. As we pray and grow closer to Him during this fast, learn to remain in His shadow and under His protection, learn to feel safe in that place of refuge–let peace and rest wash over you in spite of the things going on around you in the world.

Prayer for the Day:

Lord, I want You close in my life; I want to be under the shadow of the almighty. You are my refuge. You are my fortress. You are my God. I will not be afraid. I will not fear because I will call on that Name that is above every Name, JESUS. Lord, teach me to appreciate my life in this season. Help me to quit looking into the future, never living in the now. You will be with me in the day of trouble. I worship You, Jesus. Thank You for the blood path right into the secret place of the Almighty. You lift me out of depression, out of unfounded fears, out of the strike of the adder and the attack of the lion. I praise You, Lord. I praise You. I worship You, oh God. Lord, I enter into that tent where every provision is made… even for protection from fears and protection for my family. You are worthy, Lord. I worship You, Jesus. You are my refuge, You are my fortress, You are my strong tower, Jesus. Whom shall I fear? In Jesus’ Name, amen.
