‘For I will restore health to you, and heal you of your wounds,’ says the LORD…Jeremiah 30:17a NKJV
One thing we haven’t talked much about are the physical benefits of the 21 Day Daniel Fast–and that’s because our focus is on spiritual growth. However we cannot downplay the benefits of fasting. These three weeks give your body a time to detoxify as you eat only fruit and vegetables, so one of the benefits is that you’ll begin to feel better, have more energy. The flesh in us tends to grow accustomed, or even addicted, to the foods we normally eat, so the shock of changing suddenly can cause you to go through some physical pain and suffering in the form of withdrawal symptoms, but you will come out the other side better for it. You’ll lose weight, taking some stress off of your joints and heart.
One of the principles in Genesis is that of physical manifestation of your spiritual state–we read about Adam and Eve dying when they disobeyed God, but that was referring to the spiritual death they faced; it took some time for the physical death to happen. And that also goes for our fast, as well. As you become spiritually healthier, growing closer to God, that spiritual state will begin to manifest in your physical body, and much like your spirit will want the things of God more, your body will want healthy food more. By the end of the Fast, your body will no longer crave the things it used to (see Why fast? for info). These concepts all show that as we line our spirits up with God’s Word, the rest of our lives begin to come into alignment as well. Today, pray for your flesh to line up with God’s Word so that you can live the life God has for you; pray for divine healing and miraculous living!
Prayer for the Day:
Lord, thank You that You are our Healer. You were wounded for our transgressions, and You were bruised for our iniquities. Through Your stripes we are healed! And Lord, I claim miracle healing in my life and the lives of my loved ones. I worship You, Jehovah-Rophe, the God that healeth. Your Words “are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh” (Proverbs 4:22). Thank You for sending Your Word to heal me. “…my Hope is in You God: for I shall yet praise You, You are the HEALTH of my countenance, and my God” (Psalm 43:5). I give You praise and thank You today that my body is being healed by the life-giving power of Your Word. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
