And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy houseActs 16:31 KJV
One week into the fast, we hope that you’ve got an idea of your Fast Goals and are keeping a prayer journal–and our prayer is that your entire house will be saved! In Bible times, though, house meant more than just the four walls and roof that made the building you live in–it meant your family. In Acts, we read that not only will Christ save us when we believe, but our entire house (family) will also be saved.
We can rejoice in that promise that our whole house will be saved. At the same time, however, we should make it a daily, even constant, prayer that the Lord draws us and our family near to Him. The drawing is what will win the hearts of those in your family who need to be saved–the Holy Spirit’s drawing is what prompts their hearts and spirits to action. We must, then, pray for the Holy Spirit to draw our families to Himself, to bring to the foot of the Cross for salvation, and we must also display Christ before them, since we are His “ambassadors” (2 Corinthians 5:20). If you’re facing a situation in your family and you feel like it’s hopeless, cling to the promise in Acts 16 that says shall, not may. Don’t lose hope. Don’t lose faith. Stay patient. You will inherit the promises of God (Hebrews 6:12).
Prayer for the Day:
Oh God, save my children. My cry, Father, is save my children. Touch my children. Straighten their paths. I paint them as a target for Your Spirit to touch them and mark them. Anoint them this day. I thank You and praise You that salvation will come to this house because of the blood of Jesus. Even when it looks like it’s not working, I thank You that the blood of Jesus covers my family. “No weapon formed against us shall prosper.” Your promise is that if the enemy comes one way, he flees seven. In Jesus Name, amen.
