28:12) The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.Deuteronomy 28:12, 8:18
8:18) And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
Part of our annual 21 Day Fast is the First Fruit offering at the end. The reason for the First Fruit comes back to the whole theme of the Fast–putting God first in our lives. We’re told, “Honor the LORD with your posessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine” (Proverbs 3:9-10 NKJV). Through the years, we have seen supernatural blessing in people’s finances as they obey this principle of first fruits–which simply means to give the first part, or the best part, to God. Malachi tells us to “bring all the tithes into the storehouse,” but the first fruit is different than a tithe. It is an offering to God in which He promises to open to us “His good treasure, the heavens” and make us lenders, not borrowers–He will begin to move in your finances and you’ll begin to come out of debt and be the lender, the blesser, to others.
The reason we put God first in our finances given to us in Deut. 8:18, which tells us that it is God “who gives you power to get wealth,” therefore we owe thanks and gratitude for all of our wealth, all of our increase, to God. By putting God first in our finances, the same principles of putting Him first in our time will follow; He will not let His promises go undone and just like putting God first in your year will set the tone for the rest of the year, giving Him first place in your finances will set the tone for the rest of your money! As you continue to pray and fast, begin to pray over the blessing that God is going to pour out when you are obedient in this area of your life!
Prayer for the Day:
Father, I thank You that You are my source of supply. I thank You that You know how to break bondages off your people. Help me to attack my lack by applying the wisdom of Your Word. Oh God, You said, “I’ll bless the work of your hands.” I’m going to pay my debts and live on the rest. I ask You that the anointing of the Holy Spirit break every yoke of bondage, break the yoke of borrowing, break the yoke of overspending from my life. I decree that this is the year of the Lord’s release. I receive it and thank you, Lord. Father, I thank You that You will bring increase and cause me to profit even right in the middle of a famine. In Jesus Name, amen.
